About Us

We are a community church, in Longwell Green, and here is what is important to us:

To welcome anybody and everybody, just like God does.

To see others and issues the way God might.

To meet other's needs just as God's been meeting our needs.

To speak truthfully to each other because we love them.

To forgive others because we have been forgiven by God.

How do we do this?

That's the hard part. But in our Sunday morning services (10.30 - 12.00 a.m.) we aim to hear what God wants to say to us, and to respond in informal and lively worship.  And for the children, there are groups for all ages which engage them in age-appropriate ways.

Then there are smaller groups that meet during the week in people's homes.  There's also a group for those exploring faith ('Mustard Seeds'), and there's a group for teenagers (YCG - Youth Care Group).

And there are practical ways we try and serve the community.  CoffeeTots is a parent and toddler group (Tuesdays 9.30-11.30 a.m.), Golden Blend is a coffee morning for the 'over 50's' (Thursdays 10.30 - 12.00 a.m.).   Xone is a fortnightly youth club for 9-11's, and X2 for 12+ ages.

We partner with other local churches as part of an Assemblies Team that leads assemblies in schools in Longwell Green, Oldland, Bitton, Warmley and Cadbury Heath.

Finally, we get involved in practical ways.  'HOPE on the streets' is an annual weekend where we join with churches in Longwell Green, Cadbury Heath and Oldland to help with people's gardens, clearing up, and fun events for the children.

We are linked to other fellowships across Bristol through the Bristol Celebration Churches Network. The Celebration churches meet together regularly to share in a time of Celebration and teaching. And we meet regularly with local church leaders to plan joint events to reach this community.

Our Vision

We want the Mustard Tree Community Church to be church which is:

Worshipping

encountering God in worship that is sincere and reverent, yet lively and open.

Praying

because this is an expression of our relationship with God and because prayer is the key to change

Spirit filled

where the fruit of the Spirit is evident in each life and gifts are used to build up the church

Biblical

where the word of God is the measure to which we align our lives and where the teaching is both practical and relevant

Caring

recognising its responsibility for serving one another without barriers of age, gender, race or class

Witnessing

recognising each member’s responsibility to share their faith with those who live or work around them

Sending

seeking to reach out beyond the local community to share the resources and people that God has given us
